This speculum works very well. It works just as described. I would recommend it for someone wanting to spread something open with it.

once you have it opened up inside, don't close it back down while inside. It can pinch skin and tissue. When you are ready to take it out, leave it fully open and carefully take it out.

This speculum can be intimidating to look at especially if you are the reciever. But in the right hands this can be a quite enjoyable experience. It is of a decent quality, great for beginners looking to get into medical play without breaking the bank. The cast lines were almost non existant and the insertable part of the piece was polished to a quite good finish, no barbs or imperfections of note to get the flesh hung up on.
The down side to it is that it is not ratcheting, as I would have liked it to be. The item is opened by squeezing the handle together and held in place by a set screw that has a small kurneled knuckle and is positioned in a way that it is dificult but not impossible to operate. Keep in mind that this should be used with lube, as any insertable, and will make operation of the item just that much harder, especially with a type of gloves on if you perfer to use them.
As a personal note I recommend NOT closing it completly when widthdrawling it due to the prongs close up on themselves and colapse inwards when tension is released. They will grab "stuff" and pinch.
Overall I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in looking into medical play and/or looking for a gaping tool.

heavy stainless construction, nice item. My boyfriend and girlfriend love playing with this thing. be careful not to pinch them when it closes.

This product is great for the price! very intense the first few times. Lots of silicon based lube needed. Water based get cumpy and makes turning the screw difficult during use
